Terraria Skeletron Prime Boss Guide

How to Summon

Skeletron Prime can spawn naturally at night in Hardmode, or be summoned with a Mechanical Skull:

• Craft Mechanical Skull: 30 Bones + 5 Iron/Lead Bars + 3 Souls of Light + 3 Souls of Night
• Must be used at night
• The fight must end before dawn or Skeletron Prime becomes invincible and one-shots you

Arena

• Large platform arena (multiple layers, wide)
• Campfires + Heart Lanterns throughout
• Nurse nearby (optional but helpful for emergencies)
• Teleporter on each end for quick repositioning (advanced)
• Sufficient vertical space to dodge spinning head

Recommended Gear

• Melee: Shadowflame Knife, Daedalus Stormbow (w/ Holy Arrows), Titanium/Adamantite Armor
• Ranged: Megashark or Daedalus Stormbow + Holy Arrows
• Mage: Crystal Storm, Golden Shower (ichor debuff), Forbidden Armor
• Summoner: Sanguine Staff or Spider Staff, Spider Armor
• Key: Wings and a good hook are essential for dodging

The Four Arms

Skeletron Prime has 4 arms, each with different behavior:

• Prime Cannon: Fires grenades — moderate damage, easy to dodge. Destroy mid-priority
• Prime Laser: Fires rapid lasers — high damage. DESTROY THIS FIRST
• Prime Saw: Charges at you — dangerous up close. Destroy second
• Prime Vice: Grabs/rams you — slow but strong. Destroy third

Destroy order: Laser → Saw → Cannon → Vice → Head

Head Spinning Phase

When the head spins, it deals massive contact damage and has increased defense. During this phase:

• Do NOT touch the head
• Focus on dodging — the spinning head charges at you
• Attack arms during head spin phases if any remain
• The head has reduced defense when NOT spinning — that's your DPS window

Strategy

• Kill Prime Laser first — it deals the most damage
• Stay above the boss and drop down to dodge charges
• Use piercing weapons to hit head + arms simultaneously
• Golden Shower (Ichor debuff) dramatically reduces defense
• Keep moving horizontally — vertical dodging is for the head spin
• Watch the clock — you must win before dawn

• Hallowed Bars — craft Hallowed Armor and weapons
• Soul of Fright — used in several important recipes
• Skeletron Prime Mask/Trophy
• Greater Healing Potions
