Terraria Queen Bee Boss Guide

Beginner 8 min — Find, summon, and defeat Queen Bee. Arena, gear, and attack patterns.

How to Find Queen Bee

Queen Bee is found in Bee Hive structures inside the Underground Jungle. Look for hive blocks (yellow/orange) while exploring the Jungle underground. Each hive contains a larva — breaking it spawns Queen Bee.

Alternatively, craft an Abeemination (5 Honey Blocks, 1 Stinger, 5 Hive Blocks, 1 Bottled Honey) at a Demon Altar to summon her anywhere.

Arena Setup

  • Clear a large flat area in the Jungle (at least 100 blocks wide)
  • Place multiple layers of platforms
  • Add Campfires and Heart Lanterns
  • Have an exit route — Queen Bee enrages outside the Jungle

If fighting in the Hive, expand the natural chamber by mining out walls and floor.

Recommended Gear

  • Melee: Amazon yoyo or Blade of Grass, Gold/Platinum armor
  • Ranged: Minishark + Silver bullets, or Boomstick
  • Mage: Space Gun + Meteor Armor (zero mana cost), or Water Bolt
  • Summoner: Imp Staff, Flinx Fur Coat
  • Accessories: Hermes Boots, Shield of Cthulhu, Cloud in a Bottle, Band of Regeneration

Attack Patterns

  • Charge: Flies off-screen then charges horizontally at you — jump or grapple to dodge
  • Stinger Barrage: Hovers and fires stingers at you — strafe horizontally
  • Bee Spawn: Releases small bees that home toward you — kill with piercing weapons
  • Below 50% HP, charges become faster and more frequent

The fight alternates between charging and hovering phases. She's predictable once you learn the pattern.

Strategy

  • Stay mobile — Hermes Boots or equivalent are essential
  • Attack during hovering phases when she's stationary
  • Dodge charges by timing jumps — she aims where you WERE, not where you ARE
  • Kill the small bees with piercing attacks to reduce clutter
  • She's weak to fire damage (Fiery Greatsword, Hellfire Arrows)

Important Drops

  • Bee Gun — mage weapon, fires bees
  • Bee Keeper — melee sword, spawns bees on hit
  • The Bee's Knees — bow that converts arrows to bees
  • Bee Wax — crafts Bee Armor (summoner set), Bee Headgear (mage)
  • Hive Pack — expert mode drop, improves bee weapon damage
  • Honeyed Goggles — master mode mount
